Certa manhã, em 1963, Paul McCartney acordou com uma música que ele não conseguia tirar da cabeça.

Primeiro, ele colocou algumas letras alegres na música, mas seu produtor George Martin o encorajou a encontrar algumas palavras mais de acordo com a melancolia da música.

McCartney gravou como um solo com seu violão, uma das principais novidades da banda.

Foi uma aposta e tanto que George Martin sugeriu a adição de três violinos e um violoncelo.

O resultado foi um grande sucesso e as vendas do álbum Help, que apresentou a música Yesterday, venderam três milhões de cópias.

One morning in 1963 Paul McCartney woke with a tune he couldn’t get out of his head.

First, he put some light-hearted lyrics to the tune but his producer George Martin encouraged him to find some words more in keeping with the melancholy of the song.

McCartney recorded it as a solo with his guitar, a major first for the band.

This was quite a gamble, so much so that George Martin suggested adding three violins and a cello.

The result was a great success and sales of the album Help, which featured the song Yesterday, went on to sell three million copies.
