TOKYO

A capital do Japão está localizada na costa leste da ilha principal do arquipélago japonês, Honshū.

Até 1890, Tóquio era uma pequena vila de pescadores chamada Edo.

Tóquio é dividida em 23 distritos, incluindo a movimentada Shinjuku, lar de inúmeros arranha-céus, e a movimentada Shibuya, que inclui grandes centros comerciais, como a 109.

O centro da cidade é tradicionalmente dividido em duas partes: Yamanote e Shitamachi.

Apesar de seus edifícios modernos, como o Tokyo Skytree, existem muitos santuários xintoístas e templos budistas, incluindo os mais antigos Sensō-ji, o santuário Yasukuni ou o Hōzōmongate.

O símbolo oficial da cidade, adotado em junho de 1989, é uma folha verde de Ginkgo biloba em forma de "T" para Tóquio.

A cidade possui quatorze restaurantes com três estrelas Michelin - mais do que qualquer outra cidade do mundo.

Japan's capital is located on the east coast of the main island in the Japanese archipelago, Honshū.

Until 1890, Tokyo was a small fishing village called Edo.

Tokyo is divided into 23 districts, including busy Shinjuku, home to numerous skyscrapers, and bustling Shibuya, which includes major shopping centres, like 109.

The city centre is traditionally divided into two parts: Yamanote and Shitamachi.

Despite its modern buildings, such as the Tokyo Skytree, there are lots of Shinto sanctuaries  and Buddhist temples, including the oldest Sensō-ji, the Yasukuni sanctuary, or the Hōzōmongate.

The official symbol of the city, adopted in June 1989, is a green Ginkgo biloba leaf in the shape of a “T” for Tokyo.

The city has fourteen restaurants with three Michelin stars—more than any other city in the world.
